Gravel Calculator
Calculate cubic yards and tons of gravel for driveways, paths and landscaping.
How the Gravel Calculator Works
This gravel calculator converts your area dimensions and depth into volume and weight. It multiplies length by width by depth (converted from inches to feet) to get cubic feet, then divides by 27 to convert to cubic yards — the standard unit for bulk material orders. Weight is calculated by multiplying cubic yards by the tons-per-yard for your chosen gravel type. Crushed stone averages 1.4 US tons per cubic yard; pea gravel and river rock are slightly lighter at 1.35 tons; dense limestone runs about 1.45 tons. Always add 10% to account for compaction and settling, especially for driveways. Metric tonnes are provided for international reference (1 US ton = 0.907 metric tonnes).
